Welcome to KCHC!
Kansas City Homeschool Connection (KCHC) is a Christian-based 501(c)3 homeschool support group for families who choose to home educate their pre-K through high school students. Our group is founded by like-minded families who desire to have a strong homeschool community in the Greater Kansas City metro area by serving and spending time together.
In the late 1990’s, a group of homeschool families began to meet regularly in living rooms in the Eastern Jackson County area. Over time, that group grew to become known as Lee’s Summit Home Educators (LSHE), serving hundreds of families in their homeschooling journey throughout the years.
In 2023, after over 30 years serving the homeschool community in the KC Metro area, the members and board of directors of LSHE recognized the need for an expansion of our services to better serve our community. Kansas City Homeschool Connection was born!
The Members and board of directors of KCHC are looking forward to growing in community and influence in the Greater KC area. We welcome the opportunity to work together with other homeschool organizations to offer opportunities for education, networking, mentoring, and growth as we move forward into the future.
Holding fast to our roots as a homeschool support organization, we will continue to be a place for families to come together for field trips, play dates, cooperative learning, and support. Beginning with the 2023-2024 school year, KCHC will also be expanding our focus, offering teen social events, dances, prom, Eta Sigma Alpha Homeschool Honor Society, and a graduation ceremony for our Seniors where parents will issue the diplomas, as we join together for a worshipful ceremony to thank God for His goodness and faithfulness to our families in our homeschool journey.
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, complete, divinely preserved Word of God, the supreme and final authority for all faith and life (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 1 Thessalonians 2:13).
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (John 15:26, Ephesians 4:4-6, Deuteronomy 6:4).
We assert our belief in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:1), His virgin birth (Luke 1:35), His sinless life (1 John 3:5), His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood on the cross (Ephesians 1:7, 1 Peter 1:18-19), His bodily resurrection (Romans 8:11, 1 Peter 1:3), His ascension (Acts 1:6-11), and His imminent bodily return in power and glory (Hebrews 9:28, Revelation 1:7, Luke 21:25-28).
We believe that man was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), but fell into sin and is therefore lost (Genesis 3:1-7, Romans 5:18-21, Isaiah 53:6), and only those who put their faith in Jesus Christ alone, not trusting in any personal works whatsoever, can be saved (Romans 1:16, Ephesians 2:8, Romans 10:9).
We believe that salvation is the free gift of God brought to the sinner by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose substitutionary death on the cross paid the penalty for man’s sin (Romans 6:23, 2 Corinthians 5:21).
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21; Romans 10:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to convict mankind; indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service (John 14:16-17, John 15:26, Romans 8:9).
In accordance with the teachings of the Holy Bible as the inerrant Word of God, for all purposes of the corporation and these bylaws, “marriage” means only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife, and the word “spouse” refers only to a person of the opposite sex who is a husband or wife (Genesis 2: 23-24, Matthew 19:4-6, Hebrews 13:4).
We believe that the biological sex of a person is an essential part of human identity, and that God wonderfully and immutably creates each individual person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Genesis 1:26-27) We believe that in His infinite grace, according to God’s design and intent, sexual differences between males and females are an intrinsic part humanity, and rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
We believe that children are a heritage from the Lord (Psalm 127:3), and that Scripture places the primary responsibility for their education upon their parents (Proverbs 22:6, Deuteronomy 6:5-9), and that is best accomplished through a loving atmosphere of family-based home education. We attest to the spiritual unity of believers through our common faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that individual doctrinal differences which may exist–outside of the aforementioned–should not hinder the unity of Christian home educators (1 Corinthians 1:10, Acts 4:32, Galatians 3:28, John 13:35).
